Dear Friends, and Guests:

On behalf of the Chinese New Year Celebration Alliance (CNYCA) committee, I would like to welcome you to the Celebration the Year of the Monkey. I wish everyone “Gung Hay Fat Choy” and “Xinnian Wanfu”.

Today is the seventh annual celebration in Sacramento organized by the Chinese New Year Celebration Alliance. This year, the alliance has set a record in having the largest number of local Chinese community organizations on its board: fifteen member organizations and one supporting member organization. The Chinese community leaders and a troop of volunteers have worded hard since last May to organize this event so that we can come together on this day to celebrate our culture and share our heritages. I would like to thank our business partners and devoted volunteers for their support in helping us make today a showcase for the Sacramento Chinese Americans. I would also like to thank Vice President Ric Brown and his colleagues of the California State University at Sacramento, for their generous support in the past four years.

One of the great strengths of our nation is diversity. The Chinese Americans have enriched the American Culture and contributed to the American economic prosperity for more than two centuries. Generations of Chinese have found their way to America and through hard work have been able to realize their dreams. This contribution has been recognized in the Railroad Museum, the Golden State Museum and many other museums. Let us continue this tradition to bring our talents and work ethics to make United States a better society.

Jian-Hua Liang
Chair, Chinese New Year Celebration Alliance
Vice President, Elk Grove Chinese Association
