中國文化的多彩和魅力使我們來自兩岸三地及美國本土的華人歡聚一堂，弘揚中國文化的主題穿透了不同的地域、方言、社會和政治背景，使我們走到一起。華人新春聯歡會從小到大，不斷完善，今年已進入第九年。去年，已註冊成為一個正式的非營利團體，並為南亞海嘯災民及本地市立圖書館中文資料增購捐助款項。

華人新春聯歡會的價值和意義已遠遠超出能讓各位欣賞一臺精彩的文藝表演，參觀商家的展銷或與家人朋友歡度愉快的節日。華人新春聯歡會已在本州、縣、市的政界和商界初具聲望。各社團的孩子和家長及各所中文學校的積極參與，自然形成了一條將中國文化的精髓傳給我們下一代良好途徑。許多的家長和孩子們早就開始準備節目，令我驚喜的是，參加排練居然已成為許多孩子每周的寄託。

我堅信我們的華人新春文化協會及聯歡活動是一個值得借鑒的華人團結合作的典範。有各位富有公益之心的理事的努力及各大社團的大力支持，我們的協會和新春聯歡一定會更加興旺。在此，我也對州大岡薩雷玆校長和我們的老朋友施里副校長的長期支持表示真誠的感謝。愿大家在幸運狗年中，心情愉快，身體健康，萬事如意。

Dear Friends and our Honorable Guests:

On behalf of the Chinese New Year Culture Association (CNYCA), I would like to extend our warmest welcome to all of you. Thank you for coming to this Year of the Dog Celebration for the Sacramento Chinese community. My sincere thanks also go to the Board of Directors of CNYCA representing 13 local Chinese organizations. Their volunteerism and hard work in the past year make this event possible!

The glamour of Chinese culture has brought Chinese of different origins into this grand celebration. The objective of enhancing this fascinating culture and passing it on to the next generation has transcended the differences of regions, dialects, social and political backgrounds. The Chinese New Year celebration has grown tremendously since it began nine years ago. Registering as a non-profit organization in 2004 was a major milestone. In the past year, CNYCA made donations to South Asian Tsunami relief and to the Sacramento Public Library.

The value and significance of Chinese New Year Celebration go well beyond bringing you a wonderful afternoon of great performances, having a great culture and business exhibition, or a happy holiday gathering for friends and relatives. Unity of the community shown in the celebration has been recognized by businesses and officials from various levels of the government. Active involvements of children and parents from various local organizations and Chinese schools in preparation for this event have created a natural channel for passing the essence of the Chinese culture to the younger generation. I was certainly surprised to learn that many young kids were eagerly looking forward to attending their weekly rehearsal.

I believe that Chinese New Year Culture Association and this New Year Celebration is a great example of unity among Chinese descendants of different backgrounds. With the efforts and supports of our Board of Directors and Member Organizations, our organization and event will grow stronger each year. I would also like to thank President Alexander Gonzalez and Executive Vice President Joseph Sheley for their continuing supports. Let this Year of the Lucky Dog bring you good fortune, good health and happiness.
